Senior Architect

This is a unique opportunity for collaborative, professional, entrepreneurial, and technically skilled candidates.  It is a top priority, career advancement position within the firm.

The position is a critical “seller-doer” role at BCA.  You will oversee a portfolio of projects of varying complexity and be responsible to maintain and further enhance the firm’s reputation as a top-performing, market leader.  The position encompasses all aspects of project management, including client satisfaction, internal staffing, scheduling, quality control, and profitability. 

You will also work directly with the Business Development Department to analyze new project opportunities and prepare proposals and presentations in pursuit of those projects. 

The position is available at any one of three offices (Ithaca, NY; Saratoga Springs, NY; or Watertown, NY).  The firm embraces a mobile work culture and has a robust infrastructure in place to support work from anywhere in the state. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture
  • Registered Architect in the State of New York
  • 5 – 8 years’ experience as a Project Architect
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  • Technical knowledge of building construction and building systems;
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, Speclink, Bluebeam, Deltek, NewForma, AutoCAD;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and details simultaneously;
  • Gather and analyze data, present creative solutions, and prioritize workflow;
  • Develop and maintain record keeping systems;
  • Develop and implement short and long-term goals;
  • Work 100% independently and demonstrate initiative in meeting sales and revenue goals;

You will also work directly with the Business Development Department to analyze new project opportunities and prepare proposals and presentations in pursuit of those projects.

Assistant CAD/BIM Manager

BCA Architect & Engineers prides itself in providing the support, training, and utilization of technology in order to create a high-end client and employee experience.  The Assistant CAD/BIM Manager’s primary responsibility is to assist design staff and project managers with management and coordination of AutoCAD drawings and Revit models and to help with development, implementation, and enforcement of CAD/BIM standards.  

Minimum Requirements: 

  • 3+ years of experience in design, drafting or engineering production.
  • Revit and AutoCAD, experience with graphics software such as Enscape or Lumion3D is an advantage; must be extremely computer literate
  •  Understanding the practice of architecture, project delivery, and construction methods
  •  Strong organizational skills and exceptional work ethic
  • Ability to interact, collaborate and support the design group through strong written and oral communication
  • Must be effective at working with others in a team environment

 


 

Civil Engineer

BCA works with a variety of client types including K-12, higher education, government, healthcare, airports, and local communities.  We are seeking civil engineers for our Watertown, NY office.  The preferred candidate is design focused, enjoys working with a team of architects and engineers, and thrives on active participation in internal site team design reviews.  Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Certification is required.  The position will include work at the local office, but periodic, short-term travel to our other New York offices may occasionally be required.  

Minimum Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering (or Civil Engineering Technology) with a concentration in Structural Engineering and/or interested in municipal water and wastewater project design
  • Five plus years of experience
  • Excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills
  • Self-starter with ability to work both in groups and alone as necessary
  • A desire to not just design, but to develop creative solutions
  • Focus and drive to learn
  • Ability to multi-task

Intern Architects

We are seeking an Intern Architect with 2 to 5 years of professional experience. The desired candidate will be responsible for the day to day production of contract documents and assist Project Managers through Construction Administration.  You could work out of our Ithaca, Watertown or Saratoga Springs locations.

 Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture
  • Proven skills in design and construction documents
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Excel, and Word is required, Revit experience is desirable 
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills

 

Electrical Engineer

BCA Architects & Engineers is seeking an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our staff in their Ithaca, Watertown, or Saratoga Springs Office. The major function of this position will be to provide design, production, and coordination of construction plans and specifications in support of engineering and architectural projects. Duties are in relation to electrical engineering for building systems including primary/secondary power distribution, lighting, and low voltage systems design.

This position is a lead Electrical Engineer working with a team to complete complex renovations or new building design projects. The person will contribute to the development of specifications and permit applications and to write miscellaneous reports and prepare preliminary man-hour, cost, and material quantity estimates. You will participate in quality control review, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others and coordinate with other disciplines as required. There will also be field investigations and observations of design work and of projects while under construction.

Minimum Requirements:

  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 10 years’ experience is desirable
  • Professional Engineering license is preferred

 

Project Architect

BCA Architects & Engineers is looking for a Project Architect to work out of their Watertown, Saratoga Springs, or Ithaca, NY office. 

 Minimum Requirements:

  • A highly motivated individual with the ability to work on multiple projects
  • 5 years’ experience,  licensed architect preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Production of Contract Documents (Drawings and Specifications)
  • Coordination with in-house disciplines, Consultants, and Clients
  • Participation in all Phases of Design and Construction
  • Production and Project Scheduling
  • Knowledge of NYS Building Codes
  • Knowledge of NYSED standards and submission process, a plus
  • Detailing
  • Cost Estimating
  • Contract specification production
  • Ability to work and collaborate with the design team
  • Revit knowledge required
